The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set oppressed people free, and to announce the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 14:17-21 ISV)

Jesus at Nazareth, after reading Isaiah 61:1-3, announced his mission to liberate the poor, the oppressed and the prisoners. As his followers we rejoice in the freedom from sin and the release from captivity which he has brought us. But many sisters still feel ‘bound’ by the attitudes which are presented to them, and by the manner in which their ecclesial service to their Lord is restricted by church traditions. Our site aims to help restore ‘sight to the blind’ so that our sisters may at last realise the full freedom in Christ which the Bible offers.

Several Christadelphian writers have attempted to address in detail the traditional prohibition on women speaking and leading in the ecclesias. Foremost among these are Ian and Averil McHaffie, to whom we are greatly indebted through the mercy of our Lord, for thoroughly researching and producing “All One in Christ Jesus”. To varying extents, many of the documents presented on this site draw on the McHaffies' studies of the ancient world and Biblical texts, and their ‘big picture’ approach to Christian practice.
