This perceptive appeal to godly reason was written at a time of ecclesial trouble when sisters were excluded from assisting in its resolution. The author highlights the valuable contribution of feminine spirituality.

She makes the interesting observation that Paul seemed to view marriage in two different lights – his Jewish heritage and his new Christian perspective. Neither Jesus nor Paul attempted to overthrow existing social customs in one sweep, and freedoms for women developed throughout the New Testament and continue today.
