First written as a series of six articles, this punchy challenge to Christadelphian restrictions on women is a rattling read. Jesus flouted the position of women in his day and Paul’s writings reveal vigorous female activity in the 1st C ecclesias. A short explanation of Gnostic beliefs illuminates the heresies addressed in 1 Timothy. The case for ‘hats’ in 1 Cor 11 is ‘uncovered’, while ch 14 shows that all believers may address the meeting provided they do so in an orderly manner. The author concludes with an impassioned appeal to change our policies before they destroy us.
